The other day I took a look at my writing since this past January, when we all collectively came back with our Notes from Prolific Minds. I realized that most of it has been dark and cynical. Even the humorous ones have something cloudy, dim, gloomy in them.
So I made a run to The Guardian to find something fun to write about. Once I went past the top news (gloom) and a number of other sections, I got to the Lifestyle section, and there I saw the article, "Reign of the goldendoodle: how it became the UK’s top dog1". I have to tell you, that I did not－and still have not－read the article, but when I saw the heading above, I travelled back－in my mind－to my oldest American friend’s house in Arizona, who introduced me to their 2 goldendoodles, Mia and Bella.
These dogs are so cute, witty, and playful, that they bring joy wherever they go. So these friends used them in their dental practice, to bring serenity to some of their patients who may be nervous from time to time.
So as soon as I saw the article headline, I investigated these dogs to find out the story of their creation and existence. This is a ‘designer breed’ dog between a golden retriever and a poodle. It is generally accepted that our goldendoodles have amassed only the good things of each breed, and that is how they have good looks, are witty, and very playful and athletic－courtesy of both parents－and on top of that they shed very little and are hypoallergenic－although I have heard that no dog can ever be 100% hypoallergenic. This breed was created in Australia. I am not going to lecture you on this breed, you can easily find it on Wikipedia. I just wish there would be a universe－or actually I prefer hidden dimensions－where some other ‘master of all species’ would keep us, humans, as pets, and that civilization has managed to keep only our good characteristics. And for one second, I was dreaming about the String Theory and its postulate that our universe has a number of hidden dimensions.
