For some time now, everywhere you read, watch, or listen, you can’t help but to hear about AI taking over and in particular about ChatGPT, the AI machine put out by OpenAI organization. I have read, in particular, about the upcoming hard times for all intellectual and artistic writing people who are expected to lose their jobs or means of subsistance, because AI will replace them.
I am no expert on the subject matter, but the other day, I was thinking that it really puzzles me that all through the COVID pandemic, where AI could have/should have provided humanity with insight and support, we heard practically nothing, zilch, nada. For example, why the death levels in Germany were so much lower than in Italy or France? Mask strategy, Test Strategy, Early Confinement Strategy, etc..nothing about AI's insight into these (even though we had ample data to feed into the Machine Learning system). I would have thought these were the opportun times for AI to finally show its power and help us humans. Yet we got nothing, except for AI telling us which book to buy or who to connect with or eventually compare our "Likes" to other Social Media "Friends".
Yet, when things calm down, we hear again about all sorts of super capabilities from AI. The technology becomes the talk of the town, and icing on the cake, we have a prototype to ‘play’ with and get dazzled by.
