I presume you have heard about Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have decided to shun Windsor, the royalty, and all that glamour, in favor of celebrity and glamour in LA. But now I am really worried about their well-being. By this Summer, they will be homeless in the UK, because Charles III, the new monarch, has asked them to free-up Frogmore Cottage, whose use the departed Queen had given them as their wedding present. But now the new King has asked them to vacate it, because he wants to house his brother, Prince Andrew, who has also become homeless due to accusations of fiddling around with underage girls a couple of decades ago.
It is no secret that Harry has lambasted the royal family, especially in his latest memoirs. And most people claim that the eviction is Charles’ response to Harry’s behavior and that the monarch is tired and fed up with his son’s behavior. Frankly, I don’t blame him. What Harry has done is to bite the hand that has fed him. The power-couple’s fame and celebrity status emanates mostly from his royal family origins, the very family that he has been pounding since marrying Meghan.
Now, I am no fan of the British royal family, even less so of Charles, but you can’t have your cake and eat it too, dear Harry. And I certainly refuse to fall into the «poor Harry and Meghan» syndrome, like the statements such as, «A cruel punishment». I have also read statements such as,
“Prince Harry inherited a security risk at birth, for life. He remains sixth in line to the throne, served two tours of combat duty in Afghanistan, and in recent years his family has been subjected to well-documented, neo-Nazi and extremist threats ...... While his role within the institution has changed, his profile as a member of the Royal Family has not. Nor has the threat to him and his family.”
So, maybe he was born with a security risk, but he also inherited the stardom and celebrity label, which he has not hesitated to use.
