- Omid-X to Hopesoo-Z (his companion on planet x) -
My sweetest and smartest soulmate, there seems to be a debate on this planet among men (the male gender) as to whether it is more advantageous to allow women to have freedom, or to remove it. Based on what I read and hear, it seems the people on this planet think that there are pros and cons in both cases.
There are people who believe there is no joy and generosity to lock up and upset the people we are supposed to love, whereas others believe that giving up the power men have over women is demeaning to men.
While some people claim that ordering around and restricting so many women in their daily life is embarrassing for the society, others reply that 9 women who abide by the rule of men is less embarrassing than one woman who does not obey her man, for that reveals the man’s weakness.
My most elegant Hopesoo, one essential question that many men do not seem to have answered correctly on Earth is whether nature’s laws dictate the subjugation of women to men?
Recently, I had a discussion with one of Earth’s gallant philosophers who was very categorical on this question: «No, nature has never established such a law. The power men have over women is a tyranny; the women have let us take that power because, generally speaking, they are more gentle, and have more humanity.» Furthermore, he said he believes women have spent thousands of years organizing the society’s interactions among people, as they mastered multi-tasking, compromise and long-term vision, while handling the operational tasks of the household on a daily basis. All these, while men were out hunting or otherwise providing for feeding the family, and that is how men got their tyrannical power over women.
«In the new century,» the same philosopher continued saying, «flexibility, multi-tasking and capacity to compromise, combined with vision and quick operational reactions to unexpected events, will become the absolute necessity to lead Earth’s societies. And in that, women are far superior to men.» That is what my philosopher friend said, is what many men see coming and are afraid of.
There is another bizarre paradox among certain populations on this planet, my most gentle Hopesoo. There are large populations in countries where women have to cover their hair and faces because the people there believe that women’s hair and face could arouse men and instigate them to do unholy things. So women are forced to cover themselves to protect them from men’s arousal. In the same countries, however, men are free to roam around dressed as they wish, because apparently the women do not get aroused (or maybe they are not allowed to get aroused). I am somewhat baffled by this reasoning: although the problem emanates from men, these societies punish women for it, and force them indoor, whereas common sense tells me it is men who have to be restricted and confined.
Earth still has a long way to go before achieving gender equality and fairness. Some population are doing better than others, but much remains to be done still.
