-Omid-X to Agamem-X (his father) and Esperan-M (his mother)-
My lifegivers, you have probably heard from Hopesoo by now about my change of approach to my mission here on Earth. As I told her, after an unexpected encounter with a local philosopher, I decided that I had been getting too comfortable by staying put too long in one place.
So I am embarking on a journey, moving constantly from city to city and country to country. In fact sometimes I plan to decide on my destination just the morning before I depart for the journey. Balthy, the philosopher, was telling me that if we do not explore our observations and our emotions during our journey, we may miss on subtle wisdom that can only encompass us if we cherish the journey, and be present during it.
I have realized that I have been too absorbed by goals and objectives and very little by what is happening in the present moment. My landlord lady in Boston once told me: «Bob, just remember that past is history, the future is a mystery, and today is a gift. So live in the present.» This quote has been attributed to various people, including ‘anonymous’ whom I have not met nor read about yet.
I have been reading much about Earth’s early human history and I find it fascinating. The outcomes of the mass movements that took place from 4000 to 7000 years ago (Earth years)-not to mention the much earlier migrations-show us what the pursuit of the journey and the present could achieve.
Those humans had no idea about their destination. They had just decided, for whatever reason, to undertake a journey out of their land. So they moved across steppes, forests, seas and oceans, and one day they landed somewhere and decided to call that home.
Furthermore, those who settled in these new destinations after the journey were total strangers to their departing civilizations, for the journey had probably consumed a couple of generations who were only familiar with moving forward. In addition, since language was not very developed at the time-if at all-the memory and the knowledge of the past generations was not complete.
So my lifegivers, I will start my outbound journey soon and make fleeting passages in various cities and countries, during which I will make every effort to absorb as much of the sights, sounds, smells and emotions these places will procure me. How much of that I will send to you and for my project sponsors remains to be seen, but I am excited at this turn of the events. Wish you were here.
