- Omid-X to hopesoo-Z (his companion on planet X) -
My most virtuous, precious and voluptuous Hopesoo, after much thought since I last wrote you, I have decided to stay on Earth and complete my mission. It was not an easy decision, but I finally did it. As I mentioned in the previous email, Henry helped me much a while ago, when I met him in Paris. Since my last message to you, however, I met a rather enlightened philosopher whose views often go beyond mundane earthly matters. His name in Balthazar Simeon, but everyone calls him Balthy, here in the Boston-Cambridge area.
One day, I went to a coffee shop for one of these things they call bagel. It looks like a (very) small size replica of the mother-ship that temporarily off-shored the people on our planet to outer space. If you remember our history lessons, they did that as the Cleaners were mopping up our planet, following the Great Implosion. These bagels, though, are edible, especially if you cut them and spread this creamy thing they call Cream Cheese on them. Anyway, I am getting out of hand, back to Balthy.
So in the coffee shop we got talking and when I asked him what his most recent intrigue in philosophy was, he said he has been thinking much about the relationship between Complementarity and Compatibility! Yes, I am sure you are telling yourself the same thing I did when I heard it: «What?!!»
He told me that he was thinking about what here on Earth is called the ‘Soul’ of people, and even animals and plants. He said there have been ample examples of situations where two souls were so complementary that put together, working in unison, would bring down the house, conquer all, even the world, so much the force is powerful. But, what if the souls are incompatible?
That’s where I went, eh? What are you saying? Is it not true that if you are complementary, you are different in certain dimensions, thus you have a higher chance of being incompatible?
He did not disagree with what I was saying, but he brought up yet another thought: Yes, there is a point to that, but in many cases, two people, or even more, can be complementary and generally incompatible, but manage to cooperate on the task(s) they have to share.
I interjected, «But what if they have to live together a lifetime, day in, day out? Can they still be incompatible, but stick it out because they are complementary, and can do great things together?»
He did not answer that question and just walked away saying: «you should ask Aristotle De Bruyne for an answer, he is an up and coming philosopher who also covers Metaphysics.»
